A Day in the Life Of... Remedy Intelligent Staffing |
A Day In The Life Of A Remedy Staffing Franchise Owner: After 15 years in Human Resources, Mike Lord's decision to become a business owner was as exhilarating as it was frightening. "Making the move to owning my own franchise was the most terrifying thing I've ever done," said Mike, a Remedy Intelligent Staffing franchise owner. "The fear of not having a paycheck to deposit twice a month was very real. But I also didn't want to be subjected any longer to company downsizing, mergers, or buyouts. I guess I really wanted more control over the major decisions that affected my life and future."
"I wanted to create something - not just take over an existing business and fill someone else's shoes," said Mike. "I needed a company where I would be out there dealing with potential clients. I didn't want to sit inside a store or restaurant waiting for people to show up. Also, I didn't want to be stuck in some office doing administrative paperwork. And, of course, I wanted our new business to be financially successful."
Mike was surprised at how quickly he reached his sales goals. "Because of Remedy's front and back office systems, all of our golden hours are spent driving towards sales," said Mike. "Every day, I wake up and ask myself, 'What account am I going to close today?'"
Much of Remedy's appeal to sales, marketing, or human resources executives is that a Remedy franchise draws on the same life and career skills that they put to work in their corporate jobs. "The persuasion and management skills I needed to succeed in Remedy's environment were absolutely transferable," said Mike. "I did not have any sales experience, but Remedy helped me to not only be comfortable in a sales capacity but to actually become pretty darned good at it."
Along with the financial rewards, success is also measured by doing the kind of work you love. There's a deep satisfaction that comes from helping good, qualified people find employment and helping client businesses find the capable people they need. "I also had the opportunity to staff my company with exactly the type of people I wanted to surround myself with on a daily basis." According to Mike, community involvement is a big part of what attracted him to a Remedy franchise. "I appreciate the fact that we're here to help employees and employers provide for their families and improve their lives," said Mike. "Staffing is a balanced business. People come to me when they need a job for themselves, their children, relatives, or friends. Employers come to me when they need people," he added. "My greatest satisfaction comes from putting those needs together and solving everyone's problems."
By focusing on customers' needs, building strong rapport with job candidates, and creating new growth opportunities in their communities, Remedy franchisees are accomplishing more than just making money. They're helping people improve their lives. "It's a nice feeling. It feels like genuine success," said Mike. |
